Bio

Pavel Nechala, attorney at law and managing partner of the Nechala & Co. LLC law firm, has eleven years of experience in the area of solving corporate and business affairs of clients, representing clients in judicial proceedings, creating of public policies, including preparation of legislative proposals and investigating instigations of unfair and fraudulent practices in different areas. He has worked as an expert for several international organizations: Transparency International, The World Bank, OECD, etc. He has participated on research activities by preparation of several comparative analyses, e.g. Blowing the Whistle Harder: Enhancing Whistleblower Protection in the European Union (2009)[1], Research of Corruption-related Statutes of Limitations (2010), and Progress Report on OECD Convention Enforcement (2008-2012). Since 2001, he closely cooperates with the Slovak chapter of Transparency International.

Pavel Nechala studied at the Faculty of Law of the Comenius University in Bratislava and subsequently obtained his “JUDr.” title by the habilitation of a rigorous paper at the Faculty of Law of the P.J. Šafárik University in Košice. He also graduated postdoctoral studies at the Faculty of Law of the Trnava University in Trnava and his thesis is: Whistleblowing – Protected Disclosure. Pavel Nechala was a member of an expert group for the preparation of legislative proposals for protection of whistleblowers created within the Government Office of the Slovak Republic.

His expert experience includes:

  • expert coordination of Advocacy and Legal Advisory Center by Transparency International Slovakia created to help citizens to solve incitements against fraudulent practices and misconduct of the public administration;
  • participation in the preparation of the Constitutional law on conflict of interest of public representatives, including managing of several projects in this particular area;
  • preparation of anti-corruption directives and guidelines for several Slovak municipalities in different areas of their activities.

Pavel Nechala is a member of the Slovak Bar Association (www.sak.sk), Transparency International Slovakia (www.transparency.sk), and Partnerships for Prosperity (www.ppp.sk).
